well, almost exactly 1 year and 10,000 miles later, I was switching back to summer wheels, and I noticed my passenger rear spring was broken. The spot where it's broken doesn't cause the passenger side of the car to ride more than 1/4" lower than the driver's side, and I don't really notice any issues while going over bumps. The Problem E85/E86 BMW Z4 faces a huge steering-related problem in its lineup from 2003-2009 that has not been addressed or resolved by BMW yet. So, for the ones looking forward to buying this car, and want an opinion on how bad this problem is, simply do not buy this model. So the issue is Access was far better than I had imagined. All you have to do is push your seat right back, adjust the steering wheel towards the driver as far as possible and as low as possible and an 8 mm ringkey spanner drops onto the two star drive clamping bolts. I made a 5 mm adjustment but couldn't feel a big difference.
2004 BMW z4 89K miles 2.5 auto I have changed the valve cover gasket and the oil filter basket gasket. The top of the engine is clean now. I still have an oil leak. It is dripping off the little V shaped shield under the engine compartment. It is not a gusher just a enough to stain the garage floor. It drips whether the engine is hot or cold.

Mine didn't actually fail but was pulsing the cooling fan from cold start up-I noticed the fan reving up/down & my indi hooked it up and read "implausible pump speed" (87k) New oe pump sourced for £280 and Bobs your uncle.
